Aurora Aksnes' first musical moment was when she stumbled across a miniature piano hidden in the basement, and being fascinated at the sound it produced. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents, May Britt Aksnes, and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to pursue music more as a hobby than as a job. She began to write writing her own songs. In addition to Bjork, she cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. When her mother told her that the songs she wrote were not meant to make her famous but instead to inspire individuals to recognize their own value and impact to the world, she began singing them in public. When she was six she started playing the piano and at nine was writing music. They didn't even have any idea until she was fourteen. Aurora's fame was not the goal of her. Aurora is simply a writer who loves writing songs. According to her, the songs she creates are how she feels about any thing.
