She is a singer also a fashion designer and a music innovator. She was a Mexican American singer who was traditional yet modern. She brought together both worlds and brought Tejano music to the forefront. Her tragic death cut a hole in her growing popularity and, like many times the moment a brilliant, warm singer dies too young, it caused many to grieve all the untapped potential. In the following years, the fans became encouraged to push themselves harder to ensure that Selena's successes would not fade away. The tragic death by shooting of Tejano singer Selena caused a resurgence in the Latino community which can be thought of as similar to the responses in the wake of the deaths of Elvis Presley and John Lennon. Selena's music, an artist who was hugely successful throughout Latino communities throughout North America touched people young as well as old. Selena might have been described by some as the Latina Madonna, however she's still a fantastic example to follow. Selena's off-stage family values and involvement in AIDS awareness programs make her a good example.
